Friendsgiving Food Ideas and How Much Food to Serve
I've written out a whole post that includes Friendsgiving food inspiration, including items like turkey (and turkey breast), brussels sprouts, butternut squash, mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, mashed potato casserole, apple pie, pumpkin pie and more.
There's no official date for Friendsgiving, like there is for Thanksgiving (which is celebrating on the fourth Thursday of November, by the way). Many people choose to host it before legit Turkey Day, if they spend Thanksgiving traveling home to be with family.
Opt for comfortable yet fashionable pieces that strike the perfect balance between relaxed and put-together. Consider a cozy oversized sweater paired with flare leggings for a laidback aesthetic with a bit of retro twist.
The two holiday events are also similar in that you are serving a big meal in the month of November. Friendsgiving can really be held any time this month, even on actual Thanksgiving. It's completely up to you! Typically, however, it is held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Next, make sure all of the Thanksgiving side dishes get their moment to shine: baked potatoes, green bean casserole, and candied carrots. You'll want to serve a few appetizers (think: small bites, bread basket ideas, and party dips) and a signature drink or two (pumpkin drinks and mocktails, included).
Friendsgiving is a relatively new holiday celebrated among friends, typically around Thanksgiving. The holiday originated in the United States but has since spread to other countries. Most people celebrate Friendsgiving with a potluck-style meal, where each person brings a dish to share.
We love that Friendsgiving doesn't have any solid expectations around it- it's a gathering in the month of November with close friends. It could either be a traditional turkey dinner, a casual potluck, or a night of appetizers. There's plenty of flexibility with Friendsgiving to suit yourself and your group of besties.
